When Pandas Dream

Blog EntryAug 28, '07 10:06 AM
for everyone

In my 4 years of playing pRO, there were instances when I would make noobie mistakes. Now when I reminisce those times, I would laugh hard at being "stupid" back then. But take note, these are not restricted to those who are new to the game, as my experience tells me. By the way, this is my entry for this week's theme, "Your funny, MMORPG blooper", for GM T's Group Writing Project.

It all started during late beta. I was a newbie, with an aimless Novice (I wasn't familiar at anything at all), walking through the fields of Prontera (Pront field 08, to be exact). I chanced by a Swordsman (who I didn't know was a Swordsman), and saw him use a skill. Fascinated, I tried to use the same skill. Note, I was a Novice. What I did was to shout out the words "BASH!!!", but nothing happened. I repeated it, but still nothing happened. Then, my sister told me that I should get some levels before I could actually learn and use a skill. So, fine, off I went, trying to kill those Roda Frogs (which I warned my sister not to attack, 'coz I thought they were aggressive, having killed me at my attempt to level up). Then, I realized, I didn't know how to save! (Thinking it was like any other video game, where you constantly save the game). I approached the next player I saw and asked him "Paano po mag save?". He replied "alt f4", and being the noob that I am, I followed.. maybe I was the only one who didn't know what would happen if I press that..

Anyway, I eventually made up my mind to make my character a Knight. It took me from July to October, just to make my character a Swordsman. But it was Halloween! And there was an event in the major towns and cities, where monsters would be summoned. I remember trying to run from a Requiem, summoned right in Izlude, but eventually get killed by a Drainlair! It took me a long time to outrun them, and make it to the confines of the Swordsman Guild. (BTW, it also happened to my sister, who got mobbed by a Nightmare in Geffen XD)

This last one is a recent experience, I think just last June. It was my first time to use a Stalker, and I was excited at using the Chase Walk skill to enter the Emp Room. There I was, walking around the agit, when our GM told us to get ready for an EC, and once we got EC'ed, to rush straight into the Emp Room. All of us followed his instructions. But maybe due to the "jet lag" from being EC'ed from one agit to another, I quickly pressed the Chase Walk skill once I was inside the Emp Room. I was walking around, hidden, with others following me (since they probably saw me use the skill), trying to make me come out. I was already wondering why the Storm Gusts did not force me out of my hiding. Then I noticed the emblem. The agit belongs to another division of our guild!

Hmm, I was also thinking of the time when someone tried to scam me and my sister. It was a big laugh! S/he was pretending to be me when PMing my sis, and pretending to be her when PMing me! Really funny 'coz we played along, and the scammer eventually got irritated (Of course I told my sister that someone is using her name, and vice versa). Hope that teaches those scammers a lesson.. /heh
